About the event
Charlie Johnston is a Catholic Christian in the Archdiocese of Denver.
Charlie lived most of his life in our own Lake County Illinois. He held various positions in media--in management, as a newspaper columnist and then as a radio talk show host serving the Chicago area.
He has also had an extensive career as a political consultant, managing statewide and congressional campaigns. Notably, he ran Al Salvi's primary campaign for the U.S. Senate --which resulted in the biggest statewide primary upset in almost a century.
Charlie worked often in the district office on Walkup Street in Crystal Lake. :)
Charlie's life has been marked by visits and visitations since he was a child, telling of a great "storm" coming in his lifetime. His talks and writings have been vetted by the Archbishop.
Key takeaways, consistent in all his writings, are:
- Though it will seem to many that this is the end, it is NOT the end. Rather, it is God renewing the face and faith of the earth.Â
- That the storm will most resemble "a global civil war fought on cultural lines"Â
- That collapse is coming, but not as many of us think of it--that the heart of it all will be the collapse of public confidence in nearly ALL the institutions we have relied on.
For a year and a half in 2011 and 2012, Charlie completed a pilgrimage of 3,200 miles across America, walking and meeting people as he went along.
He now runs a national non-profit activist group he founded, CORAC (the Corps of Renewal and Charity); and also informally advises a host of officials and activist groups throughout the country.
CORAC currently has 5,000 members and many allied groups in America and in western Europe.
You can check it out at corac.co (not com, but co!)
CORAC focuses on the steps we can take and the skills we need to work together to build effective communities, and both endure and thrive in difficult times.
Charlie also writes a regular blog entitled A Sign of Hope which covers political, cultural, religious, and geopolitical issues. You can find that at asignofhope379.com.
Charlie believes God is prodding us to action to restore the culture and society. We are to take the next right step and all do the little we can right in front of us. If we do that with fidelity, we will become cooperators with God in renewing the faith and the face of the earth.
Charlie is on a weeklong visit to Illinois, working in a visit to one of his former congressional campaign candidates, Andrea Zinga and her husband Chuck McClurg; and we were able to secure him to speak with us tonight.
